Dios santo que dolor, después de dos horas de operción tengo una (miserable) muela del juicio menos. Menudo tamaño tenía la jodía, ahí agazapada dentro de la encía, bien torcidita para molestar mas. Que alguien me corte la cabeza ya, que me duele como si me hubiera atropellado un tren de mercancías…

Totem StatusIcon plugin

This sunny sunday morning, I’ve spent my time writing my first plugin for the Totem Player. It’s a simple plugin that adds a status icon to Totem, which you can use to hide/unhide Totem’s window, toggle play/pause, go to the next or previous item in the playlist, or go to fullscreen mode.

Some people will say this is useless, but sometimes, I use Totem as a music player, because I don’t like Audacious, BMP, and those WinAmp clones no more, and I just wanted a status icon to hide the window from the taskbar. Maybe more people feels like me…

Rhythmbox Open Folder plugin updated to 0.3

After I read this bug report, I updated my Rhythmbox Open Folder plugin with a patch provided by Steven Brown, which basically add supports for the plugin on podcasts list, playlists and the queue list. And also, in future versions, make the plugin appears above the “Properties” menu option, instead of below (see screenshot below).

DokuWiki plugins

Well, I’ve forgot to post that I’ve published two little DokuWiki plugins, one for adding a search form to any page, and another to add little 16px icons, like folder, image, sound….

Ayer fue uno de esos días de los que no tenía hacía tiempo. Por la mañana la Dirección General de Tráfico decidió que soy apto para circular como conductor por las vías de España, que ya iba siendo hora… Mira que dejarlo todos estos años…

Y por la tarde, mientras disfruta de la siesta, me llegaba por sorpresa, casi un año después, el Dogbox de El Inquilino Comunista. Musicalmente no me ha defraudado, pues contiene 12 temas inéditos. Bueno, en realidad son menos, pues algunos son de la segunda maqueta regrabados, algunas versiones y otros en directo. Las versiones están muy bien, sobre todo la de “Dead Flowers” de los Rolling. Lo que me ha defraudado es un poco el continente. Aunque la cajita en blanco es bonita, esperaba mas “chicha” escrita y mas fotos. El libreto lleva un par de textos explicando quienes eran el Inquilino, y una especie de historia resumen escrita por el “cappo” de Radiation. No sé, esperaba algo más completo. Datos técnicos, esas cosas. Además, ni siquiera pone a que album pertenece cada tema… De todas maneras, por 24 euritos, es una compra maravillosa, un gran recuerdo.

La cajita incluye estas grabaciones:
- El Inquilino Comunista (1993)
- Bluff (1995)
- Discasto (1996)
- Extended Play EP (1992) (menos “Eyeliner”)
- Test EP (1994)
- Radio EP (1995)

Además, versiones de The Breeders, Codeine, Tom Waits, Jesus & Mary Chains y Rolling Stones, así como temas en directo y dos inéditos de la época del Discasto.

Una pena es que solo incluye un tema del Trash EP que publicaron con la desaparecida revista Factory, y que ese tema sea “Cool Trash”, que no es mas que un poco de ruido….

Booting into a “powersaving” version of Ubuntu

In this article I will explain how to boot into different environments with the same operative system (Ubuntu in this case) from the grub bootloader.

I wanted this setup to have an option in the boot menu to load a light and powersaving environment in my laptop, so I can use it on trains or air planes without AC outlet as long as I can.

Also you can use this setup to have, for example, a standard Ubuntu, a Media Center Ubuntu (using Elisa or XBMC), a Text Console Ubuntu (for maintenance duties), a GNOME Ubuntu, a KDE Ubuntu, etc…

Fito 2.0 delayed

Vaya, primer escollo en el camino. Hemos encontrado un serio bug en el módulo de desplazamiento dinámico, y creemos que no lo podremos solventar hasta dentro de unos días. Parece que el culpable es un pésimo programador que no tuvo en cuenta algunos factores a la hora de preparar la implementación en entornos de producción. En fin, estas cosas pasan. Pronto nuevos datos sobre el lanzamiento del año.

Fito 2.0 ??

Si todo va como debe de ir, mañana empezaremos a liberar el código del Fito 2.0, que aunque va a estar en fase beta un tiempo, todo pinta a que va a ser una versión bastante mejorada. Todavía no tengo claro como voy a pulir algunos bugs, porque para eliminarlos necesito el total apoyo de la comunidad, pero creo que todo va a ir bien. Llevo unos meses preparando la infraestructura necesaria, así que creo que puedo implementar el nuevo sistema con rapidez. En fin, ya os iré contando… Mientras tanto, le estoy pegando a los Ramones, a los recopilatorios del Punk-O-Rama (benditos 15 años) y claro, a los Posession!

pyRenamer 0.6.0 released

Well, after a few days of coding, I’ve finally released the 0.6.0 version of (your favourite mass renaming application) pyRenamer. It comes with the most requested features from users, as well as lots of bugfixes. I hope everyone like this new version!

Also, pyRenamer’s website has been modified, with new screenshots, information on how to help translating pyRenamer to your language, new bug tracker and questions/answers system, etc.

In next version, I will focus on make the patterns more powerful, moving the image renaming to hachoir-metadata like music, and add some GUI improvements. You can check the TODO file for more information.
